Baguette French Toast

This french toast baguette melts in your mouth.  It's just such a perfect mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, and caramel.  It's perfect for brunch, a special occasion, or a rainy morning.  We ate something similar at Zermatt, a Swiss-inspired resort nestled in the mountains in Midway, Utah.  We knew we had to recreate the amazingness of them.  

1st dip Ingredients:
3 eggs
1/2 c milk
3/4 c brown sugar
vanilla
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg


2nd dip ingredients:
3/4 c brown sugar
3/4 c heavy cream

Directions:
Mix the first dip ingredients in a bowl.  Slice a baguette and dip both sides in the mixture.  Cook on a pan. Dip both sides in the 2nd mixture and cook.  Enjoy!

I don't know about you, but after Christmas and new years, winter just seems so blah to me.  In the past, i've just thought winter is one thing: cold.  Well I thought that until Hygge of course.  Let's explore ways the Danes are some of the happiest people in the world by enjoying the cold of winter inside.

A Simple & Colorful Chinese New Year Celebration

Remember my country night idea I want to pursue?  The first one I did was an Italian Night click here for more info.  Well, last month (February) was Chinese night except we did it during the New Year, so it was dinner + a little celebration.

I decided I wanted to start doing a country highlight night.  So, look out for our country highlight nights in the future.

Our first country highlight was Italian night.  I loved living in Italy.  While I was there, I gathered recipes.  I wish I would have been more diligent about getting more, but I love the ones I did get.

Even though Christmas is over doesn't mean that you need to stop the fun, right?

Many variations of Italian folklore tell of a witch flying on a broom the night of January 5th giving small gifts and candy to well-behaved Italian children in their shoes.  Those who are naughty get, yes you guessed it, coal.  Bring a little Italian into your life and have La Befana visit your house by leaving little treats in your shoes.

Eat 12 grapes which represent each stroke of the clock.  This is a tradition, especially in Puerta del Sol Square in Madrid.  Finish off your last grape in the last seconds of the old year to symbolize good luck in each of the twelve months to come.
