The Winter X Games were a riot! It was the kind of trip where you dress as warm as you possibly can, drink hot cocoa, and marvel at what some humans are capable of doing.
Some highlights of visiting Aspen include:
- Seeing someone do a backflip on a snowmobile
- Experiencing the rush of being at a large event with a lot of people
- Standing ON THE HALF PIPE!!
- Seeing the first ever motocross race in Xgame history
- Exploring downtown Aspen
- Feeling the wind and snow from a competitor on the half pipe
- Being at the x games at night

A few things to remember for next time:
- It gets sooooooo unbelievably cold! Wear your warmest coat you own and layer like crazy.
- Wear 3 socks! Change your socks before night comes so that your sweat from your socks doesn't just freeze at night
- People start getting good standing places about an hour before the event. If you want a good view, beat the crowd.
- They have a place to park called The Intercept Lot. It's free, and the shuttle to the games is also free. The only problem is that it fills up early, especially on Saturday. By Friday at 12, it hadn't filled, but Saturday at the same time, it had. If you want to park somewhere else, try a park and ride. You will have to pay for the bus and they require exact change.
- It attracts a rowdy group of people, especially younger kids. I have never heard the F word so many times for my whole life combined.
- Leave before the concert gets out or else you'll be stuck around a bunch of drunk crazies.
- Go downtown Aspen. Just do it! It's easy and free to get to with the shuttles. It's a darling place that felt like some place in Europe.
- The food is expensive! Both in the xgames and in Aspen. The second day we got smart and brought our own food and saved a bunch of money.
- Don't try to do this trip in 2 days with 7 hours of driving each day. It's a little too much.
