Chinese gorges, natural bridges and waterfalls

Visiting Longsui gorge and the 3 natural bridges in China

Welcome to such an incredible gorge and natural area that is such a stark contrast from the surrounding areas and the massive city, Chongqing.  Imagine a huge gorge with cliffs that stretch up to the sky which are more than 70 feet taller than Walt Disney World's famous castle.  Imagine lush walls full of greens, waterfalls that fall and spray your face as you walk by.  This place is like another world with crystal clear blue water and ancient architecture to top it all off.

There's a bit of a wait to get tickets at the entrance of the park.  There was a small walk/hike to get to the elevator.

The first sight of the gorge is just a peek into the gorgeous area-just enough to get a taste leaving you hungry for more.

The elevator takes you down the magnificent cliffside over 80 meters, or 260 feet.  The magnitude of the walls cannot be explained.

Once you reach the bottom of the gorge, you suddenly feel extremely small.  The elevator up looks huge and the sheer cliff walls dressed in all kinds of green ferns is some kind of fairy land.

You can actually walk through a natural bridge on your way to the bottom of the gorge to see the ancient structures with souvenir opportunities.

As you continue through the gorge, you will find all kinds of  primitive and intricate carvings, waterfalls that will spray a mist on your face, a blue river and more.

Overall, it takes at least a half a day to go through the gorge, but if you want to take your time, it could take all day.  While it is difficult to get here, nearly 4 hours on a bus or car, it is definitely worth the effort.  Just make sure to plan plenty of time to enjoy the serenity of the location.
