Horseshoe Bend, Arizona

This massive bend in the Colorado river is shaped just like a giant horseshoe, hence the name.  With only a slight up hill hike for less than a mile from the parking lot, this location is extremely accessible.

Once you reach the top, you will see lots of sandstone to sit and enjoy the view.

There is no shade, and the best time to go is right at sunset as the sun dips below the horizon behind the bend.

Be careful as there are no rails along the edge and the nearly 1,000 foot drop is a steep one over the edge of the cliff.

It is located just down from Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, and some people enjoy rafting the river during warmer months.
